Robert Malcolm (d. after 1708)
Robert Malcolm was a Dundee merchant and the son of William Malcolm, minister of Kinloch, and Helen Ogilvy.
In a deed of mortification dated 12 April 1708, Robert established a bursary which would be known as the Malcolm Bursary. This amounted to 5,000 merks Scots in rents and was to be given to two students at the University of St Andrews’ Old College with the surname Malcolm, or, as the deed of mortification states, students ‘who shall take on the surname of Malcolm’.
