Lectureship in Botany
In April 1891, Principal James Donaldson announced to the University Court that ‘a gentleman interested in the University’ had donated £1000 ‘towards the endowment of a Botanical Lectureship, or future Chair in the United College’. At the same meeting, Mr. Robert A. Robertson, MA, BSc, was appointed Lecturer in Botany for the coming winter session. The donation was invested in the Scinde, Punjab and Delhi Railway, earning £37 per year, paid bi-annually.
