Chapel Restoration Fund
The Chapel Restoration Fund was established by James David Forbes (1809-1868), Principal of the United College from 1859 to 1868. The restoration of St Salvator’s Chapel was made possible firstly by principal Forbes’s ability to persuade the government to authorise the Board of Works to carry out (and pay for) repairs to the roof and stone-work; and secondly, by his ability to fund-raise for new stained glass windows and seating.
